The unique sounds of UK music lured him in, while his smooth, velvet tone convinced us he should stay; WE ARE SOUL sits down with BenjiFlow.
WHO IS BENJIFLOW?
Humble beginnings come to mind when unpacking Benji’s origin story. Being implanted into a musical family, it was always clear what route he would take. Being classically trained in the piano, playing the keyboard at his local church, and studying Music Technology at degree level, the North London star was destined to cause waves in today’s UK music industry.
BenjiFlow first established his arrival on the scene as a producer and MC. Influenced by the seasoned rhythms of Afropop, Reggae, Gospel, R&B, Latin America beats, and UK Hip Hop. It’s obvious why his flavoured sound doesn’t fit one specific box.
“It’s many genres in one, that I’ve merged to make it its own thing.” He tells us. “I kinda let people just decide whatever they want to call it or, whatever they want to describe it: I just make it.”
Singing soon came into action. In 2018, BenjiFlow made his debut with Deep End. The memorable Boiler Room performance seized the essence of good vibes as the audience vibed to Benji’s captivating melody. That performance was only a glimpse of what the multifaceted artist can deliver.
“When I released my first single, I was happy. It was just pure happiness because I had no expectations.”
“I ALWAYS TAKE THE RISK WITH MUSIC…”
— BenjiFlow
SO WHAT’S NEXT FOR BENJIFLOW?
With the backing of his Mini Kingz Brothers (which comprises Ragz Originale and Oscar #Worldpeace) and the success of his BENERGY (2020) release, BenjiFlow isn’t stopping anytime soon.
“People are not gonna value you at the beginning of your career. That doesn’t matter at all. Value yourself and make the best music that you can ever make!”
