GET TO KNOW: KADEEM TYRELL
Meet Kadeem Tyrell, vocal starlight from Battersea, London. As an artist contributing to the UK’s enthralling R&B sound, Kadeem has given us modern classics such as ‘April 25th’ and ‘Simple Man’. This singer-songwriter is fast becoming a recognised voice within the scene.
Though the R&B artist houses silky vocals, music wasn’t initially the calling that beckoned Kadeem forward. Embarking on his journey, self-expression became clear to the South London singer. He soon explored the world of dance.
“I wanted to be a dancer but then realised I wanted to be the creator of the sound that made people feel” he told us.
With new adventures come doubt and worry. However, as Kadeem progressed, his love for creating emotive-inducing sounds grew.
“I would think about how their [dancers] movement would enhance what I’m trying to convey. Music and dance intertwine.”
Kadeem Tyrell doesn’t follow anyone else’s formula! Giving flowers to Aaliyah, Joe and paying homage to flows from A Tribe Called Quest; the humble artist intends to leave behind his own lasting legacy, like those before him.
“I'M TRYING TO BE THAT BLUEPRINT”.
- Kadeem Tyrell
Carving his own lane and excelling in it is a message Kadeem intentionally lives by.
“Be different, be bold. We only have one life to live. Love it. Enjoy it. Until the party is done.”
- Kadeem Tyrell
Kadeem's level of consistency tells us that his career will expand with great abundance. R&B artists who experiment while being faithful to the sound are what we find appealing about this genre. It's what keeps it fresh and a reminder of why it doesn't belong in a subcategory. From Kadeem’s perspective, “R&B is something that will be around forever. I’m on a mission to make sure that it has its time here in the UK…I’m putting my all into this genre”.
Kadeem is already on his way! He’s soon to release a new project; and has a recently released ‘All My Love’ with UK R&B sensation, Omar.
When asked what to expect from his next project, this is what he had to say:
“It’s rhythm & blues, it’s smooth. It’s soulful. It’s alternative and good.”
Look out for more from Kadeem and be sure to stream his latest single! Or, see him perform live alongside James Vickery, this October.

Now that we know a little bit about the man behind the music, it’s only right we explore the visuals that go along with them too. Here are our favourite Kareem Tyrell music videos to check out!
‘RIDER’
Kadeem Tyrell’s ‘RIDER’ video captures stunning visuals of movement and sharp choreography. Directors Remi Black and James Campayne lead spectators into Tyrell’s dancing world. Duetting along with Maya King, the pair accumulate a groovy vibe of good times and good feelings.
‘April 25th’
Written by the talented Ego Ella May, here is a song that evokes powerfully steep emotions with a music video stimulating similar responses. Set in a boxed room not big enough to hold the things within it, ‘April 25th’ transports us into open spaces, where others linger despite grieving alone. What Kadeem Tyrell has done here is use movement to highlight collective loneliness that’s registered amongst peers. ‘April 25th ‘ connects genderless minds to recognise that they are not alone and seen.
‘ALL MY LOVE’ featuring Omar
With a sense of nostalgia seeping through these visuals, ‘All My Love’ showcases how endless love can be and the joys it brings to human beings. From friendships and relationships between different sexes (and the same) to that father and son companionship. With an appearance from the UK’s Godfather of Neo Soul, Omar, the duo provides a timeless aura that has no means to disappoint!
‘I Want You’
One thing Kadeem is going to do? Break the fourth wall. In ‘I Want You’ Kadeem Tyrell professes his love for that lucky someone. Produced by R-Kay and directed by Lücy Aa, this trio of dreams construct a personalised, soul-rich visualiser inspired by his brother's proposal to his first love. ‘I Want You' is an ode to 90s R&B slow jams, where melodic sounds accompany love letters for all to hear.
