GET TO KNOW: AMALIE BRYDE

Allow us to introduce you to Amalie Bryde: the Danish-born, London-based alternative R&B artist. With a compelling smokey-toned voice, she enchants listeners with a fused sound; diligently influenced by the rhythms of sleek Jazz, sultry Neo-Soul, and the sweet memories of ’90s R&B. Bryde's musical journey was preordained and she is “groove” personified. Ready for the rest of the world to latch onto this incredible talent, we got to know Amalie Bryde and the reason behind her life in music.

When it comes to music... "It's so deep in my soul that I would say it's my calling. I can't stop."

Like many musically gifted talents, following the rhythm of her own drum ensured Bryde a glimpse of her future way before her prime. "I knew this is what I wanted to do, probably unconsciously, since the age of four," she told us. Being introduced to the world of dance by her mother, her exposure to the sounds of George Michael and Janet Jackson allowed her to master personal dance routines, igniting her everlasting relationship with music and live performance today. Growing up, Bryde found herself singing in the school choir where she discovered the voices she would soon draw inspiration from; namely: Jojo, Jennifer Lopez, Erykah Badu, and Beyonce.

Bryde has conjured a formula to becoming the Queen of Groove and Funk. Being one who boldly lives within her truth, Amalie Bryde shines through with uplifting songs of wisdom actively shaped by the lessons life tosses her way. Possessing lyricism of authenticity leaves fans invested in the stories she chooses to share.

Last year, Bryde released her six tracks EP ‘Lay Down’; a soundscape oozing empowerment, self-worth along with a dash of vulnerability. The project begins with the stealthy number, ‘No’; a crowd-pleaser celebrating the importance of using your voice when standing up for yourself.

The EP also features the self-titled track ‘Lay Down’; a neo-jazz criticism of sexism and its inequalities. We can’t forget to mention her brutally honest track, ‘Slave to My Mind’; a personal favourite, as Bryde confronts her mental health and the impacts of speaking negatively towards herself. Amalie Bryde enriches her artistry by providing first-hand insights into her world which champions the complexities that surface within the human experience.

Her latest release ‘Love Again’ continues her reign to dominate the path she has crafted for herself. Painting her emotions with her lyrics once more, the new single touches on discovering love again after a period of heartbreak. Her coffee-kissed vocals surf through the nostalgic melody showcasing her musical blueprint.

Spend time with Amalie on her upcoming tour this summer in London and Copenhagen.

Amalie Bryde Music Videos You Need to See:

‘Stranger Inside'
A sensual visualisation: ‘Stranger Inside’ beautifully champions the gentleness of femininity through numerous textures. A kaleidoscope illusion of colour, 'Stranger Inside' is an honest conversation with Bryde's Self; as viewers discover different layers to the singer's identity. The imagery echoes the naked truth where self-love and disappointment co-exist within the space. Bryde delivers a lesson on what it means to embrace versions of yourself you don't always celebrate. This music video is a striking representation of Bryde's internal world.

‘Slave to My Mind’
The doorway to Amalie Bryde’s realm is never ending if our focus is primarily on creativity. ‘Slave to My Mind’, very similar to ‘Stranger Inside’ continues to spotlight her electric style. A self-directed piece, ‘Slave To My Mind’ is a trippy escape leaving viewers captivated as Bryde performs an honest monologue about her mental health.

‘Lay Down’
A statement piece: ‘Lay Down’ is a mission statement for women to not allow gender inequality to dictate their destiny. Earthy tones of deep shades of hilly greens are a simple contrast to Bryde’s bright striking clothing as she dances freely embodying the presence of The Wild Woman Archetype. The Wild Archetype: an energetic force that navigates life by being her spontaneous self while getting in touch with her instincts. Bryde uses her voice and visuals to provide thought-provoking conversations that accommodate today’s modern feminism.
